How to reach Kumarakom

Kumarakom lies on the shores of the picturesque Vembanad Lake, which is a part of Kuttanad, 12 kms west of Kottayam town. Birds from all across the world come to the bird sanctuary in Kumarakom in their process of migration which is abundant in south India. Kumarakom is one such place where nature is in full form.

Kumarakom is located in the Kottayam District in the State of Kerala, South India. The exquisiteness of any tourist location in Kerala is that it is always just a few miles from the nearest city linking it to all the principal cities in India and to the world. And Kumarakom too is fantastically tucked put away from the hustle and bustle of city life. At the same time it is, equally reachable and easy to get to.
Kumarakom is one of the most fascinating backwater destinations in the state of Kerala. One can reach this picturesque town by all the means available whether it is air, rail or road.

How to reach Kumarakom by Air: The closest airport from Kumarakom is the Cochin International Airport, which is approximately 70 kms from Kumarakom. The Trivandrum International Airport is almost 171 kms from Kumarakom. From the Cochin International Airport it is a 70 Km pleasant ride by road to   the Muhamma boat Jetty. It will just take a few minutes across the river. The enchanting boat ride will take less than 20 minutes. A bridge is coming up here which will make possible even quicker access
 
 
How to reach Kumarakom by Rail: Kottayam is the nearby railway station. There are frequent local and express trains, which connect Kumarakom to the key cities in India.
 
How to reach Kumarakom by Road: Kottayam, is the main road junction and is merely 14 kms from Kumarakom. It is also well connected to all the principal cities in India through the State and National Highways. It is almost 171 Km (approximately 3 hours ride by road) to the Muhamma boat jetty from the Trivandrum International Airport to Lake view resort. It is 180 Km ride to Muhamma from the Calicut International Airport. One can take many rewarding stops on the route. The nearest bus terminal, is at Kottayam, which is approximately 14 Km away from the lake by road.
